Quick-Release Fertilizer
Fertilizer that delivers nutrients to the grass immediately after application. Quick-release products produce fast green-up within days but wear off faster and carry a higher risk of burning grass if over-applied or applied in hot weather.
Quick-release fertilizers use water-soluble nitrogen sources like ammonium nitrate or urea that dissolve and become available to grass roots immediately. They produce a rapid, dramatic green-up and are effective and inexpensive.
Risks: Must be watered in within 24 hours to prevent burn. Never apply in temperatures above 85°F. Avoid applying to drought-stressed grass.
Feed cycle: Effects typically last 4–6 weeks, after which the lawn will need another application.
