Weed & Feed
A combination product that includes both a granular fertilizer and a broadleaf herbicide. Weed & feed granules must be applied to damp grass so they stick to weed leaves. They are convenient but less targeted than separate weed killer and fertilizer applications.
Weed & feed products are popular for their convenience — one application handles both fertilizing and weed control. However, the timing requirements for fertilizer and weed killer often conflict. Fertilizer is best applied based on soil temperature and the lawn's growth stage; herbicides are most effective when weeds are actively growing.
Application requirement: Weed & feed granules must stick to weed leaf surfaces to work. Apply to damp grass (morning dew is ideal) and do NOT water for 24–48 hours after application.
Considerations: Less flexible than separate applications. Works best when your lawn happens to need fertilizer at the same time weeds are actively growing.
