Weed Killer

Broadleaf Herbicide

A selective herbicide that targets plants with wide leaves — dandelions, clover, chickweed, henbit, ground ivy, and more — while leaving grass unharmed. It works by mimicking natural plant hormones, causing affected plants to grow uncontrollably until they die.

Broadleaf herbicides are the most commonly used lawn weed killers. They are "selective" — meaning they distinguish between grass (monocots) and broadleaf plants (dicots) and only affect the latter. Common active ingredients include 2,4-D, dicamba, triclopyr, and MCPP, often combined in products like Trimec.

Application: Spray or apply to actively growing weeds when temperatures are between 60–85°F and wind is calm. Do not apply when rain is expected within 24 hours.

Caution: Broadleaf herbicides can damage or kill broadleaf landscape plants, trees, and garden vegetables if overspray or drift occurs. Keep spray away from garden beds.
