Drop Spreader
A spreader that drops granules straight down in a precise band as wide as the hopper. Drop spreaders offer precise control with no sideways throw, making them ideal for applying product near beds, driveways, or in narrow strips. They require more passes to cover large areas.
Drop spreaders release product through holes in the bottom of the hopper directly below as you walk. They have zero sideways spread, which eliminates the risk of getting fertilizer or herbicide on driveways, garden beds, or other off-target areas.
Advantages: Precise, no overspray, good for small areas and tight spaces.
Disadvantages: Slower — requires many overlapping passes. Easy to miss strips between passes, resulting in striped fertilizing.
Usage tip: Overlap each pass by 1–2 inches on the edge of the previous pass to ensure no gaps. Mark the edge of your last pass with a flag if needed.
